PROCEDURE TO REMOVE A REINFORCED COMPOSITE POST
Tools:
DENTSPLY MAILLEFER (or equivalent)
  1. Rotative instruments (ref. D 0205, A 0010)
  2. Manual hand reamer (ref. A016D)

Procedure:
  1. Cut the coronal part of the post level with the entrance of the canal to obtain a flat surface.
  2. With a contra-angle small steel round bur (e.g. long neck D 0205), make a pre-hole in the cut surface of the post, letting the post be your guide. The penetration must meet no resistance.
  3. Then, with a Torpan® reamer (e.g. A 0010, with a diameter equivalent to that of the post - ISO 090 to ISO 120), grind the post, manually or by using the contra-angle at very slow speed, going up and down, verifying with a control X-ray.
  4. Finish with a canal hand reamer (e.g. Hedstrom A 016D), to remove the parts of the post still bonded to the canal walls.
